I NEED HELP!

A friend of mine has cased two jars of fully colonized mexi-cubs. They've been sitting in his terrarium for about a week now with no pins. The outside of the casing has some visible mycelium that looks hard. What should he do to make the mushrooms grow? Please help.

do you have any way of knowing the humidity of the growth environment? Has the casing grown away from the sides of the container? Perhaps it was cased a bit early if your not pinning yet and the mycelium is still colonizing? I realize the cakes were fully colonized but if mycelium is still advancing while there is no pinning... Is there any discoloration?

Im no expert by any means but these are questions I would be asking myself in a similar situation. I'm sure someone more qualified than myself will respond to your post. Good luck. :-)

It may take another week or so. Is the surface moist?

I will assume you are on perlite. I will also assume that after you cased you colonized in darkness at around 87deg. until you saw the myc. peeking out of the casing. Whatever your tek, now try this.
Sprinkle some casing material on the myc. thats showing.
Get your temps around 77deg.
Fan and mist every 8 hours or so.
Try to keep humidity around 85-90%. The walls of your chamber should stay partly wet, not dripping constantly.
give it lots of light.
