I was just wondering
    #4603687 - 08/31/05 02:53 PM (11 years, 3 months ago)

Ummm..I'm pretty sure these are wood mushrooms(edidble?)I found them at the base of some trees coming up out of the leaves and pine needles. The caps wre no bigger than 4 inches in diameter ,the stem seemed tough and stringy.Gills are light tan with a lighter print. The two in the middle were begining to dehydrate, when fresh flimmsy and nice earthy smell. They didn't seem to bruise any color. What I was wondering is,if all Psilocybes bruise blue. SE United States.

not all psilocybes bruise blue cause not all psilocybes contain psilocybin. some poisonous species of boletes actualy bruise blue too. your mushrooms arent active.

umm... find out what they are before you eat them, or dont eat them at all.  Eating unknown mushrooms can be harmful or fatal  :poison:

eww dude not even those look gross. I wouldn't eat those, and I would wait for an ID from toxicman or someone whos got a wider knowledge of mycology. i'm mainly here to help identify actives, and some lookalikes. these however dont look like any active shrooms.

more research to do.

thats the spirit!
heres some helpful links for you

if your in the states click here
http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/12182
it tells you which mushrooms can be found in your state

search the mushroom names in google or find them at www.mushroomjohn.com/species.htm
find what they grow on, during what months of the year they grow, and what their spore print color is.

this should help you to find the right mushrooms.

this is good evidence to assume that indentification is more complex than cultivation.
