Fake Garden
    #4603599 - 08/31/05 02:21 PM (11 years, 3 months ago)

I just got out of rehab and moved in with my uncle. HIs yard is terrible...but I am in charge of making it better. That is allright with me it has been fun so far keeping me busy. He has old brown mulch in front of the house with weeds and no flowers at all. I am thinking about going to the home depot and getting some red mulch and some plastic plants. Anyone have any other ideas (I have a budget of aound 40 dollars)

You're in charge of making a yard look better with $40?

You could go buy mulch and plastic stuff, but even a semi nice landscape that you do all the planting and work for will still cost at least a few hundred..

dont get plastic plants, theyre incredibly tacky. GO to a topsoil seller and get a couple yards of bark, then make youre uncle give you some more money and get a couple of shrubs, a small tree or two and a flat of some flowers. Please dont get plastic plants. You could do this rather cheaply too, a little less than a hundred if you shop around.

I am doing it with my own money since, this is my house too. No one else here cares what the yard looks like, or how clean the house is. I cannot control this because I just stay here my uncle owns the pad. Thats a great idea about going to a nursery for some plants..I think I will do that. Thanks

check the place in newpapers where people give away free stuff,
here its called {pass it on}, you will have to dig them up, just be sure and get all the root ball, without messing it up, sometimes people have
free stuff because they bought too much.

Ipomoea violacea thrives in poor soil, somewhat tolerates dry conditions, is a herbicide preventing new weed growth (due to tricolorins), comes in a variety of colours and patterns and is very cheap. Minimal cost and maintenance and very rewarding.

a good carefree garden that looks very nice may consist of a few different pine/conifer specie and then some English ivy for ground cover.....

both rather cheap and the ivy will spread very quickly and choke most weeds out
