Stumped by my computer
    #4602630 - 08/31/05 08:28 AM (11 years, 3 months ago)

So I'm trying to get into the EDIT screen from the c: prompt, however I get the error:

16-bit MS-DOS Subsystem
Command Prompt - edit

c:\Windows\system32\autoexec.nt.  The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows application.  Choose 'close' to terminate the application.  close ignore.

I can't figure out why.  I get the same error when i try to install Borland Turbo Assembler from a burned cd.  funny thing is I had no problems getting into Edit or installing on my other computer.  thanks for any advise. :mushroom2:

copy autoexec.nt to a backup location, then copy the autoexec.nt from your working computer replacing the broken version. I have had to do this once and it fixed the problem.

or you can just copy it from the C:\windows\repair folder into your C:\windows\system32 folder too.
