Would you try it?

I was doing some community service and mowing the yard at the humane society, and I found a bundle of mushrooms growing near the edge of the property. I collected a few to look at them. One was a white color, almost like a "toadstool" white, but with a mushroom-type cap. The other was the same color, only the cap was mostly inverted. I know toadstools are supposedly poisonous and deadly, but I've heard of some mushrooms that are hallucinogenic that resemble toadstools.

Would anyone here support my testing them out to see if they are hallucinogenic? Would anyone be able to point me to a good site to identify what type of mushroom they are? Thanks.

If by testing them you mean eating them, don't even think about it. Its a horrible idea, and you could die, and at the very least have some verry unpleasant experiences.

Just look a few forums down. The hunting forum (an the subforum for ID) would be a great place to find this out. You will need a picture more than likely, and read the rules of the forum at the top, as they tell you what info you need to supply for an ID to be made.

*edit - in general, know that white gills are a very bad thing.

That is absolutely a BAD IDEA. Never a wild mushroom that you are not completely sure of as even experienced mycologists have trouble identifying certain mushrooms. Even if it bears some qualities similar to a magic mushroom, it sounds as if you dont know what to look for. You could end up sick or dead! Read up on mushroom hunting hear at the shroomery; it takes a long time to get good at identifying.

Hmm Destroying Angels are nice and white and they will turn your liver into a big mess and then you die unless you can somehow get a liver transplant

Never eat an unidentified mushroom, that is just common sense. Please make threads like this in the hunting forum once you've gathered as much info as you can to make a positive ID.
