NM man accused of leading multi-state drug ring August 30, 2005 - cbs4denver.com
ALBUQUERQUE (AP) An Albuquerque man is accused in a federal indictment of heading a marijuana distribution and money-laundering ring that amassed more than $49 million.
Dana Jarvis has pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to distribute more than 1,000 pounds of marijuana, operating a continuing criminal enterprise, money laundering and conspiracy to launder money.
U.S. Magistrate Alan Torgerson on Monday ordered Jarvis to remain in custody.
Another 20 people have been indicted in the case.
The ring got bulk quantities of marijuana from a Tucson, Ariz., supplier and shipped the drug to stash houses in New Mexico and Arizona, the indictment alleged.
The marijuana then would be shipped to outlets including Denver; Columbus, Ohio; and Bloomington, Ind., the indictment alleged.
Some of the marijuana would be redistributed along the East Coast and elsewhere, with the profits shipped to New Mexico by vehicle or aboard at least two private aircraft, the indictment said.
