Predictions that came true
    #4598654 - 08/30/05 10:42 AM (18 years, 6 months ago)

If anyone wants to look in the old posts from around March you'll see I predicted oil at $70/barrel and $3/gallon. That's two out of four and my predictions were valid until 2008. Let's see if the other ones come true.

http://money.cnn.com/2005/08/30/markets/oil.reut/index.htm?cnn=yes

Quote:

Light sweet crude for October delivery soared as high as $70.85 in New York Tuesday, a day after Katrina ripped through the Gulf, which pumps a quarter of U.S. oil and gas, and slammed into Mississippi, killing at least 50 people. (Full story.)

The October oil contract had later backed off a bit and was up $3.10 at $70.30 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange as the first news of rig damage became known. The contract had touched $70.80 in electronic trading Monday -- then the highest trading price on record.

i'm not even gonna list my political predictions that came true because it would completly derail this thread and turn it into another arguement about the same old shit.

I can't wait for oil to hit $100+ a barrel. That oughta thin out traffic. Should be able to get good deals on cars that people can no longer afford to drive as well.

it just occured to me that it would be a great idea to invest come money in oil. The prices are only going to continue to rise. It's a sure thing, right? The trick is to sell before the whole thing comes crashing down.

What's worse is how when the average jimbob can't afford fuel they're gonna hate on the people that are driving around in the stretch H2 with the windows down and AC on full.

Look into futures contracts.  It's amazing how much you can make(or lose) with this ultra-liquid investment in these times.

Here's hoping Bush stays away from releasing some of the strategic reserves

Heard on the radio today he's thinking about it as a result of the refinery and well damage from Katrina.  I hope he doesn't.  It's a bad opiate.

I think they should be able to drive them; they should just have to pay an absurd luxury tax when they purchase the vehicle, any time they purchase gas, and every time they renew their plates.

That's one area where strict Libertarians and I differ. Driving and SUV and poluting the world does affect me. Since the environment is a community resource it needs to be taken care of by the community.

He wasn't whining about the environment outside of the price of gas. Higher gas prices will lead to lower consumption, duh. He wants cheap gas so he doesn't have to pay so much in spite of the fact that it will lead to greater consumption. He was being totally selfish without the least regard for any environmental issues. Just class issue crap.

weird ive had a full time job for almost a year...its want my first either...i took maybe 2yrs off working for school, not full yrs either, i worked summers and such. yes i am worried about the enviroment too.

why should people be blantantly wasteful just because they can? it shouldnt be allowed, big man republicans who blah blah about they can drive whatever they want miss the point. we have a LIMITED supply of resources, so why let jackoffs in urban assault vehicles piss away the rest of our worlds oil...and drive up costs...and poullute... im not talking about taking away ALL SUVs, im saying the fucking ridiculous ones have to go...the ones that have a 10mpg gas milage, its disgusting. H2, Avalanche, Escalade, etc...shit that is big with a huge guzzling engine just for the sake of being big.

All this translates into "I'm too poor to drive.  WAHHHH!" :cryariver:
Maybe you shouldn't have bought a car that ran on gas in the first place.  You weren't worried about the price of fuel when you bought your ride, DEAL WITH IT!
Until you liberal hippies start to walk where you have to go, you have no place to :bitch:
