That is some good reading. Makes we wanna get back out there. About 8-10 years ago when I was doing a lot of hiking I gave serious thought to a thru-hike on the PCT. I had done several week and 2-week excursions in the High Sierras and loved it over there. But I came to the realization that I would be away from my wife for longer periods of time then I was willing to do. Especially since it would put a financial burden on her while I was away. So I came to the conclusion that I would probably never pull a thru-hike.
But throughout my life I intend on seeing a good portion of the High Sierras in short sections. Its kinda nice to do it that way anyways. I probably goof around too much to be a thru-hiker. I'll see a peak I want to climb or canyon I want to explore and waste a whole day doing it. That kind of behavior could cause havoc in the schedule of a thru-hiker.
