I bought a psychadelic mushroom field guide today and I thought for sure I saw these in that book. Habitat and cap size all seems the same. They are quite dark and have purplish stems. The underside has some purple and sort of dull gray color. I found them growing on a rotting log.

Doubtful. Always (!) take a spore print on white paper. Frequently, an active mushroom with have a purple-brown sporeprint, although there are exceptions. Secondly, watch for a blue bruise on the stem and cap where the mushroom was handled.
And not to pic on you, but try to get close up photographs, moreso than what has been initially posted, mmmmkay?

Everytime I tried a close up it got blurred. I was told that you need to take a print 2-3 hours after picking it. It's been well over 2-3 hours.

Ideally, you want to take a spore print right away (as soon as it is pulled from the Earth). However, you can probably still get an ok print if its layed on paper within about 8 hrs of the time is was picked.

Can't hurt to give it a shot though.

I was there too, we picked them off a log and instantly they bruised a deep blue or even purple. The mushrooms also bled when picked. They looked exactly like some mushrooms in a field guide that we got today. Everything down to what elevation, climate, area, and what they grew on was in the book. I'm begining to think that finding them is not as easy as I thought it would be.

Nothing is ever as easy as to pros make it seem, be it mushroom hunting or anything else.

Inactive, looks like a mycena. Your pictures are poor, and there is no description.

Try taking your pictures outside in natural light, and read the sticky thread outlining identifications.
