Fickle Cable Connection
    #4595410 - 08/29/05 04:57 PM (12 years, 7 months ago)

Hello, I share a cable connection with 4 other computers via air port card; meaning one computer is directly connected to cable, and there's this box next to it that sends a signal to a box in my room, which sends a signal to my computer as well as 3 others nearby. I'm not sure if it's because of this set up or because that's the nature of cable, but sometimes my internet just stops working, other times it runs really slow, while other times it's extremely fast. Can anyone give me some tips on how to keep it extremely fast? Much appreciated.

Cable users in the area are all hooked up to the same bandwidth. So at peak using times you might notice your connection is slower.

Any wirless connection(esp. air port cards) tends to stop working, slow down, or speed up...just wait 5 minutes and it should be running smooth...There's hundreds of different signals whizzing past you in the air and if one gets in the vicinity of your air port cards range it can cause interference...
