hey, this is my first post on here... its my second time growing PF spores inside jars... my jars got contaminated but on one of them i managed to open the jar, cut out the contam, and reclose the jar. i had to open the jar at least 3 times to get all of the contam but it finally stopped coming back, after the contamination was all gone the mycellium grew very slowly (taking 5 days to move a quarter inch on the jar) and when my cake started pinning i birthed it. the sides of the jar were squished in and strandy (from the mycellium squeezing for water i think) but the top was very fluffy. the pins seem to be forming and making some progress but its going VERY slowly. could the cake still be contaminated even though i cant see or smell anything unusual? should i keep it going or just make some tea from the cake? any advice would be great
peace

There are a few possibilities.

1. The cake is contaminated in the core. Think of how it smells..

2. The cake is far too dry, in which case putting it directly onto wet perlite may allow it to rehydrate and regain some 'performance'

3.. Any thing else somebody can think of.
