Why do you choose to live?

This could be anything! There's alot of posts on suicide and I fit into that category.... and I want to see what might be the most common reason and for ideas that might spark interest in life in other areas for other people. I think it will be children myself, try to keep things positive.
The main reason I keep myself alive is for my fiance. She's been with me through my whole illness and if anyone deserves to see me live its her. And as she keeps trying to get me better, I too try to get better because she tries so hard, kinda inspires me to keep going.

I chose to live because It feels good to be alive. It doesn't always feel that good, but when it does not I am miserable and pissed of, and that feels just as good, it gives me some dark energy, when it gets resolved I feel good again, so it gives me positive energy. Either way some energy is feeding me, and it feels good

I honestly don't know.

For the longest time I either didn't have one or didn't know. My reason came about in 2003.

Maybe my reason right now is hanging around to find one.

it is not certain that "we" chose to be born, but we are here, and it may indeed have been choice that got us here, and if so, it is not the kind of choice that is of a day to day nature - especially if it somehow involves dimensions we are unaware of and forces of a type that we have no knowledge of.
not that we can't change our minds about anything, clearly that is not something that needs to be proven (is it?), but the kind of process that lead to our incarnations is really an oceanic process, immensely huge-like; while the moment to moment decisions that we can make here seem very small in comparison. including the decision to off ourselves or one another (is there much difference between self-offing and other-offing)
it just seems terrifically out of scale to make a decision that would terminate a life that began out of something not yet understood, and that interconnects with others in so many ways, and can reach unknown experiences. It seems to me to be a waste to go in that direction, I have to say goodbye to my own younger brother every day, and it aint nearly as much fun as saying hello would have been.

Oh yes, it is often somthing to solve, what threatened someones life. For me, it's solving agressions in families, which extends to society. To preserve nature from destruction from that egoisticcal agression, that resolves. Just for me, it is really somehow, to make the world a better place. I feel and see, that every entity in universe has such a big story to tell, that is overwhelming. Started from simply matter going over plants, animals to humans and higher beings. All this information making present for the human kind is a dream for me, but that includes to keep diversity in life... the opposite direction, what is driven now... G*d there is so much to do... my life will be much to short. I have to find some more compression algorithms

It isn't so much wanting to be alive, it is the uncertainty of what happens after death that keeps me alive. Everytime I contemplate suicide in my head, I reach the conclusion that there is no way of telling what is on the other side. The concept of gambling has always frightened me.

music and my musical talents/talents, the beauty and good in life, my continuing growth and development, beliefs, fear, everything i have accomplished being lost and the unablity to explain myself, effect id have on people, unfulfilled dreams, etc... i continue to live through the agonizing mental and physical pain because of these things and such, otherwise i'd be dead. even just the fear and uncertainty of "death" keeps me from doing it. i believe that this life is the way it is for a reason so i will keep going until it is no longer possible.

I choose to live because I may never get the opportunity to again. My attachments, motivations, and dreams in this life get me up in the morning. Friends, family, the good times, the bad times, meaningful life experiences and memorable moments are why I love living.

I dont think I really choose to live. I just do. I mean, I have thought of suicide, as a lot of people have, but I find it so magical that I am here at all. To walk, to read, to look for a long time at a single leaf and have my friends think I am crazy... Its all so damn cool. Life is like one big trip.
Peace

Because I'm having fun.

A warrior is not a leaf at the mercy of the wind. No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

I tried once. the anguish I saw in my family's face when I was in the hospital made me reconsider ever trying again (well at least until they have shuffled off this mortal coil). life can be pretty shitty but it can never be as shitty as hurting those that love you. learn to enjoy the struggle to overcome pain and trials and life starts to really look up.
losing my sense of entitlement to happiness, good times, etc. and my sense of victimhood at not having those things, and embracing the fact that I forge my own destiny was, I found, a very practical way of dealing with negative and suicidal thought. In fact I found happy states more often than ever before. use it, don't use it, whatever.

Experiencing life is interesting, besides.... I've got plenty of time to be dead.
