Average colonization time of WBS?
    #4593488 - 08/29/05 01:38 AM (12 years, 1 month ago)

Whats up all? Chillin, chillin...

I need to ask a question. And I know part of the answer I will hear is patients. And thats true, I know I need to wait. But i'm curious.. Whats the average colonization time of wbs?

Im using quart jars. Followed Doc's WBS tek. They are in my TIT right now at 83 degrees. It has been about a week and I see absolutly no sign of mycelium.

I previously had been using BRF in pint jars. But all 24 fell victim of diff types of mold. Over a period of the month they were
colonizing. So I thought i'd take a shot at WBS since i heard the colonizing time was alot quicker.

Soaked them for 24 hours. Drained and PC'ed. And I injected them with 2cc's each of GT. I sure hope I see some mycelium soon. I am starting to get really discouraged. I've been doing this for about 3 months and havnt had a successful run yet. I know thats not long, but its just frustrating sometimes. And I know.. PATEINCE. Yeah, i'm not giving up if this fails, I just wish it would succeed.

Peace all. Gonna go fire this phatty boom batty.

...mabey i'll see some sailboats and an ocean. or mabey even some of them big titted mermaids. :stoned:

germination in 5-7 and full colonization in 3-4 weeks. Sometimes they can look like there is no growth if all the myc is startingin the middle of the jar. I've only seen that once though when using one piece of agar. If you're really curious, give one a shake and see if there are any clumps of myc.

Did you give it a shake after inoculation? If not the myc might just be hiding. Wait a few days for them to start eating the outside of the WBS.

that's an established, healthy myc transfer.  there's a one week wait (roughly) for germination.  4-5 little chunks of agar in a quart will colonize in 15-17 days, but that's not injecting spores.

my wbs 1/2 pints colonized fully in about 11 days. Crazy fast in my experience, but this is only my second attempt at growing. The first was 1/2 pints of BRF, which failed miserabley after a month of slow colonizing.

Yeah I shook the jars like crazy when I noc'ed em up. I didnt know about the germination time. So mabey I will see something in a few days.

And I have shook one jar and moved around to check for myc; And there was none. But i'll give it a few more days and see what pops out.

Appreciate the help. Peace.
