assorted questions

ok. 1)a friend of mine may have innoculated a few drf/verm jars about two weeks ago. all of them may be closed to full coverage, but one may have green stuff growing where there is no myc. the myc seems to be overtaking the green stuff. is it ok to keep this cake? should i wait to see if the myc. completely takes over the green stuff?
2) how much time between flushes?
3) if fan drying shrooms, how long does it take? how do you know when they're dry?

Toss it! I'm still just a newbie, but from what I read, always chuck anything that shows signs of contamination.

1) throw it away, contams can be posioness, do you want to risk it?

2) depends, so many factors, will they flsuh evenly, ie all shrooms ready at once, or will you pick ripe shrooms only? but if you get a flush (ready at same time) i guessing about a week to two weeks or somewhere inbetween.

3) don't bother with a fan, won't get them 100% dry anyway, will take about 2 days non stop to get about 80% dry.
So what should you do? Well i shall tell you
goto to any chemist and buy some Epsom Salt, all chemists have it, nothing dodgy in buying it. It is cheap so no worries about cost.

Spead it out over some tinfoil on a baking tray and put in oven fopr about an hour or nigh, my ovens highest settign is 250 so i use that.
Take out after hour and put in a container, i use an old cake tin
Let cool for abit
Put a screen over the hardened E.Salt. I use piece of net curtain.
Put shrooms on screen
Put lid on container
Leave for couple of days.
open tin
Admire 100% bone dry shrooms, ready for storage.

Tried decassients, tried fan drying, and the above method is how i do it know. Best method there is. Plus has added bonus that it is reuseable. Just put the ep salt back in the oven bake again, and you ready fo more drying.

As far as drying your shrooms your method of drying should depend on how long your going to store them for? Long term over a month they should be cracker dry but I havent gotten to that stage yet all my shrooms are gone in a few weeks so I dry them probably 90-95% put them in paper bags/envelopes (doesnt seal in moisture like a baggie) and refrigerate. I dry them with a clip on reflector w/100watt bulb available in any hardware store for $6, 7 bucks. Put shrooms on paper towel with a piece of black cloth over shrooms and light 18-24 inches away. This method will dry them and you wont lose any potency through direct heat. I wouldnt feel good about puttin my shrooms in an oven on high for an hour?, everything Ive read says you'll lose potency like that. No disrespect intended...
