well afoaf inoculated 2 1 pint jars of brf and verm. in the middle(holes he punched on sided weren't big enough ) on the 18th and is showing good signs of growth one has a patch on the bottom about an inch wide and the other on the side about 1/2 an inch. he put a heating pad under them on low today the temp was 79 now it's 83 hopefully they'll speed up.
he just wanted to say thank you to everyone on here for all the info he's been reading.
how long does it usually take a 1 pint jar to colonize? and do you think since he inoculated them in the middle he just has to wait til the outside is done then he can hopefully case them?
thanks

p.s.  he knows 1/2 pint is better but all he could find was 1 pint.

Just a tip here I used a heating pad for a while, if it touches the jars directlt it will dry them out, try making a wire rack out of chicken wire or somthing that sits an inch above the pad, or try putting them in a cardboard box on top of water heater or fridge.....
Oh and 83 is a bit on the higher end of the inccubation temp 79 sounds perfect, brf colonizes kind of slow be patient.......

well i pint jar of brf will take prolly twice as long to colonize than a 1/2 pint, so you're looking at anywhere between 3-6 weeks. that's also dependign on the temp and moisture level and how tightly the substrate is packed.

and you have to wait until the jars are 100% colonized, if innoc in the middle, when the outside is done, should be good to go.

You can also use the TiT method incubator with a heating pad in the space between the two. It is what I'm currently using.

If tmc is right, 86 is optimal, but as the chart shows, too hot is much worse than too cold. There are seedling heating pads you can buy that have an optional plug in thurmostat for an extra $40. pot growers use them alot, so i'm sure they won't dry your stuff out if set up correctly. Some guys here use them too. I would if i had the need. thurmostat=k3y

Seedling mat is what I use but I made a rack 1 in above pad just like the rack used in seed starting...
