Another Newbie here with a few questions. BUILT TERARUM USING PF METHOD BUT I LIVE IN A VERY DRY PLACE. GOT ONE OF THE CHEAP HUMIDITY GAGUES THAT EVERYBODY BITCHES ABOUT;) IT ALWAYS READ 20 PERCENT OUT OF TER NOW IN TER IT WONT GET ABOVE 75. I HAVE WET PERILITE IN THE BOTTOME AND USING A FISH TANK BUBBLER IN GLASS TO KEEP HUMIDITY UP. USING CASING AND CAKE METHOD TO SEE WHICH ONE WORKS BETTER BUT IM SURE CASING FROM WHAT I'V READ. : P ANYWAY, JUST PUT FIRST CAKE AND CASING IN AND AM KIND OF WORRIED ABOUT NOT ENOUGH HUMIDTY YOU GUYS THINK THIS WILL BE ENOUGH? I'VE NOTICED THE MYLI IS STARTING TO GET FLUFFY ON THE CAKE. I GUESS THAT KIND OF GOOD RIGHT? ; I ALSO ARE U SUPPOSED TO MIST THE CASING EVERY DAY OR JUST THE TERIUM HELP WOULD BE APPREICATED THIS IS MY FIRST BATCH SO LOOKING FORWARD TO THE GOOD STUFF :):):) I KNOW KIND OF DUMB QUESTION BUT WHO ELSE WOULD I ASK LOL

It is good that your mycelium is getting fluffy. If you are worried about humidity, you should case your cakes. The casing layer provides humidity for pin formation so the humidity in your terrarium doesn't have to be as high. You can mist your casing layer until the mycelium is showing. You don't want to get water droplets on the mycelium as it leads to aborts. If the casing layer looks dry you can mist it between flushes. I also like to add more casing material where the cake has pulled away from the side of the container after a good flush.

I cover my casings with tin foil and set in a warm location to let the mycelium repair itself after being cased. My casings pin within a week after being placed in the terrarium.
