I love teen movies about underappreciated kids. If its a boy, its the nerd who the hot girl starts to find attractive because he has so much personality.
If its a girl, its the ugly girl who gets a makeover, and turns out to actually be beautiful, so the guys like, damn I cant wait to pound this bitch all night. And they both win!

its just amusing the different roles of the sexes.
The girl isnt good because she has personality, she just becomes bangable.
