Water heater to Past. Poo!
    #4585753 - 08/27/05 12:29 AM (11 years, 3 months ago)

I was thinking about getting a 20 gal. water heater, and capping off the fittings and cutting the top off. With this, i should be able to just put a plug on the water heater, and plug it in when i put my poo in there and set the temp. on it to 160....does anyone have any experience with water heaters and what they look like on the inside? Do you think that this is a good idea maybe?

a small inine pump would make the task much easier, route it to a trashcan using
PVC and a PVC to copper union, it's just a little soldering and to be honest, a
small 6 gallon would work adequaately

Well...i was acctually trying to do more than put hot water in my container...i was acctually trying to use the water heater to maintain the acctual water temp of the pasturizing process.

it will do just that, all you need to do is monitor the temp in your
pasturization tub and adjust the thermostate to maintain it, the pump will
circulate the water from the water heater to the tub as a closed loop,
cutting the top from the water heater is a pain, you've got wiring to deal wth
as well as fibergalss, plus what happens if you decide you want to use it for
another prurpose that requites it to be complete.

most water heaters are marked as A-B-C for temp settings, not by actual temperature
