I am new to this, so please bare with me!!!!

I have just colonized a cake, but have no idea how to birth it? I don't know why I have not come across this basic knowledge yet!!! I have some mushrooms growing in a poor mans terrarium, but what is all this talk about dunking? and wetting?? I just put the cake in the bottle and let it grow? am I supposed to wet it and what is a flush!!!

THank you for your generous knowledge!

Please help!!

this is my first reply so bear with me.
dunking is when submerge the cake in water for 12-24 hrs.
dunk and roll is dunking the cake then rolling it in dry vermiculite then misting the vermiculite a little. this is highly recommended from pictures that I've seen.
haven't had the chance to grow yet, just tried to and i successfully tried to grow what i think is cobweb mold on the bottom of the jar. or maybe weak mycelium if anyone could tell me what baby mycelium looks like it would be helpful (or pics). that's all i have to say.

DO I do it for every new cake that has been colonized?

My main concern is that I just took them out of their jars and straight into a terrrarium and now I am second guesssing myself, I think I missed a step!

you don't have to dunk that's just an option but i think once you've started the birth you can't take it out and dunk just wait til after the first flush just get the settings right and fan out c02

yea I wouldn't worry about dunking for now. I didn't dunk my cakes when I first birthed them (this was my first attempt and I didn't know about dunking) and got an amazing yield. Because of various constraints, I wasn't able to dunk after the first flush, but I still have quite a nice yield coming out.

I'M GOING THROUGH THE SAME OPTION, SINCE YOU ALREADY BIRTH THE CAKES, GO AHEAD AND LET THEM GROW....DUNK AND ROLL NEXT TIME AND THEN COMPARE YOUR RESULTS. AS FOR ME, I WILL DUNK AND ROLL SINCE I HAVEN'T BIRTHED MY CAKES AS OF YET. GOOD LUCK ON YOUR GROW...
