Sanity and Insanity - the Truth

I don't know how to even begin this, but I'll try. Have you ever thought of crazy people this way? The more insane someone is, the more enlightened they are. For all you who live in big cities, I'm sure you've had weird encounters with slightly insane bums on the street. They experienced so much in their rough life, or did a lot of drugs, or maybe their head was never right. The sanest people you know are probably the most unenlightened people you know.... think about it. And the opposite goes for the people would you call slightly insane. My girlfriend who was always looking for signs, finding bigger meanings, etc., went through a very rough 3 months in her life, and was very unstable. She's not book smart at all, but she's very open-minded, spiritual, etc. That?s another thing: book smart people are usually less enlightened. There are two types of people, and while the lines cross and blur, they can still be divided this way: book smart, closed-minded (though they wouldn't say so), "sane", unspiritual (though they may go to church and believe in god) people. Then there's the exact opposite: not book smart (would be called street smart), very open-minded (and they would agree), totally or only somewhat what would be considered "insane" (though they may not realize it), and has a higher sense of spirituality (though they may not actualize or realize it, perhaps because they don't go to church), not to mention they are more understanding, but that fits in with the open-mindedness. Like I said, the boundaries can cross a little, but this is my theory. Now I wonder if you can switch what side you live on. Ok, does anyone else understand what I?m trying to say, and furthermore, agree or believe in what I'm trying to say? Thanks for listening Everything is anything

Sometimes people will think that I am acting strangely or that I am just really weird. However, I sometimes feel that I am the only one that can see the world for what it really is, and everyone else is just trapped in some fantasy world.

you have to come to figure that the word sane and insane is just a figure of speech..i suppose when you are insane it feels normal to be that way anyhow..so who is to say that is a bad thing..insanity can be a great thing depending on how you view it.

People are insane because they don't fit into the norm, they don't seem "normal". I doubt anyone insane is any more enlightened than anyone else, although possible. Most insane people suffer paranoia, delusions, hallucinations ect., these things are very fun or very troubling, I can tell you I would much rather live in the norm than to deal with frontal lobe problems...

That should have read sanity is awareness, knowing who or what to freak out on, or sanity is to know... Yes only 1 person here has noticed you all know nothing of being insane, this is not a bad thing, but true...

as far as dividing everyone into two categories that sounds like some Nazi shit -------------------------------------------- as far as so called 'insane' people actually being enlightened, i'm sure it's true in some/many cases. when you find the Truth, if you can't handle it, well it just might drive you insane.....

I knew this topic would bring about some strong opinions, none of which are wrong. There are exceptions to every case of course. Also, when I used the words insane and sane while describing the persons, I put them in quotations. D_Tox, I dearly hope you're not calling me a Nazi. Also, insanity without sanity would be "in", and that doesn't make any sense.

just to clear it up, I didn't call anyone a Nazi.... i merely stated that dividing everyone up into two different groups sounds like what the Nazi's did.

Ehh but hes not really discriminating... oh well... Did you ever notice that the "insane people" are brilliant? (Not to condone any of this) Charles Manson is a genius... yet people call him insane... Perhaps insane people know too much, and we just think they are crazy, when we in the fact are the dumb ones... I dunno, just a thought

I have a friend that wants to go to a crazy house to study the insane people. Watch them interact and try to understand it. This I fell is more of the closeminded, booksmart way of going about it. I would want to actually be commited, and be at one with the insanity around me and within me. But I think there is a difference between 'insane' being more spiritual and finding bigger meanings etc. And just being plain crazy. Like in 12 monkeys. I don't remeber the names, but Bruce Willis's character was considered crazy because noone knew or tried to understand what he was saying. Too unbelievable. But Brad Pitts character was definately crazy.

No matter how you study it, insanity itself is unexplainable. Even coming back from insanity if your lucky to veiw that perception, it cannot be explained with words props, visuals or anthying...I rember a few things, I was sure I was psychic, mad I was whispered at, the conspiracy was closing in and all I had were these pink pill, pink pills they said would help..Now I'm here with no idea who he was or what he thought.......

Actually I really cross your lines, being book smart and street smart as well as intensely inner spiritual but do not go to church, completely open minded, I believe that most people are insane, or at least the sane ones use insane reasons to make them do the normal things in life.

Sanity and Insanity make so sense to me. I use the words occasionally, but they fail to have real meaning in relation to myself and others.
For example, society has listed me as "crazy" before, but it's just me. As long as I can live my life with quality, harm no other, and be happy then who cares?

I'm a bit of both sides;
- first side; very calm; reading lots of books (college), the normal side.
- other side; I often talk to myself; get really freaky when I'm not around other people (I don't wanna go to the nuthouse ); sometimes paranoid, very emotional.
Most people would define themselves as "crazy" or "happily mad"; but I never seem to get that. Most people that say that are like the most normal people I've ever met.
I wouldn't go so far as calling myself crazy; but I'm definately a lot different than most people. And that has a good and a bad side. But hey, as long as I'm having fun in life, that doesn't bother me at all. The only thing I would never want is a regular, boring, normal life
