Mushrooms in my House Plants?
    #4580628 - 08/25/05 05:08 PM (18 years, 7 months ago)

Recently I bought an african violet plant from a home seller in the neighbourhood. Shortly after watering it for the first time, a yellow mycellium type layer began to form on the soil. Fearing a plant-killing fungus, I scraped off that layer and most of the underlying soil and replaced it with pasteurized soil. Unforuntately, I damaged some of the root structure and the plant soon died.

Shortly after the last flower wilted on the plant, a yellow mushroom appeared over night in the pot. The mycellium type stuff had bounced back big time and was now fruiting in the new soil. I discarded the plant in the dumpster out back.

Now, two weeks later, the same yellow mushrooms have appeared in a nearby aloe vera plant. I'm just wondering: wtf is going on here? What kind of fungus is this? Do they pose a threat to my aloe vera plant, and if so can anyone recommend a good fungicide? The mushrooms are small, a bright and chalky yellow colour, the cap is conical and pointy, and they seem to grow in groups. I'll try to post a picture soon.

Plants do support water with h2o2, so add peroxide to your water (not to much). Il will help your plant killing the mushrooms and the plant will enjoy having more oxygen at its root

hello, i have a similar situation.
I got an aloe vera plant for about 3 years or so now and as recent as 2 months back i changed the earth.
Now a couple of times i had a mushrooms grow kit in my house, sometimes in the same room as the aloe vera.
But only since yesterday i noticed some familiar white bulbs popping up.
Thing is, i didn't use any fungi related stuff in the earth or the water i feed the plant and the last time i had a mushroom grow kit is more than 6 months ago.
only now some heads are showing.
I don't mind them, but i am curios to know if they can damage my aloe vera.
