10% of cake seperated from cake at dunking!!! WDID?

As I was about to pull a half pint cake out, I noticed it had a crack at about a 1/2" from the bottom. When I pulled it out, the 1/2" bottom piece seperated into 2 pieces. I went ahead and put them in the pint jar and dunked them. Now what do I do? Can I still use it as a cake? Cuz all I have is vermiculite, so if I did a casing, that would be all the casing I can have. I still wish to do a cake. Is it still possible?

you could do a cake without the bottom part, or you can case with verm only.. It works, just not as good as 50/50+, also, if you really wanted to use a cake with the whole jar, you could just re-incubate. It will heal itself.
