Newbie Question, I CANT EVEN GROW MOLD

I made a few jars following the pf tech method and it has been 3 wks with no growth in site. Smelled the jars, seem fine. No idea what the problem could be. I have them at 80F in the dark.
Only Ideas that might of caused the problem:
Shipped in the heat. The spores looked strange when sent. They were in a glob all together stringy looking kinda??? - from hawkeye if that matters?
Used a bit more water than PF calls for but not a huge amount more.
Used a presser cooker at 15psi for app. 45min -60min, could I have cooked the bfr out of the mixture??
I had tape over the jars so no oxygen was being exchanged. I took the tape off at the end of wk2. Could that of stunted growth, and if so should it be better by now??
ALL HELP AND IDEAS WOULD TRULY BE GREAT!!!!!
Thanks in advance!!

Actually dude, All most syringes that I get from Hawhseye are "stringy". Its a good thing. Did you shake them? How many CC's did you use? How much more water do you estimate was added to the mixture? Did you shake the jars after innoc?

give it another 4 days , wait jees . spore will servive hotter temps then myc .air exchange wouldnt account to no growth it would only slow growth

I'll personaly vouch for The Hawkseye, never had a problem that wasnt taken care of fast, the stringyness in the syringe was probably germinated spores, mycelium
follow the advice folks have already given like shaking the hell out of it, be patient and give it another week and then contact hawk and Rychehawk and let him know there was a problem

I didn't think shaking BRF jars did anything but compact the substrate which is a no-no.

I truly hope they were talking about the syringe.
excess water will slow growth or inhibit growth. you really should stick as close to the tek ratios, they are absolutely without any doubt proven teks that work when followed. that is not to say that experimentation should not take place, just not when it comes to adjusting water contents, especially with the pf tek.
How much water is a bit more?
I have found water content and substrate airyness to be key factors in the cakes colonization. really stick to the ratio of 2:1:1, verm, brf, water. you can't go wrong if you do. Also make sure that you just lightly spoon the mix into the jars, any kind of packing or tapping will compact the mix and slow or inhibit myc growth throughout the jars.
best of luck

it breaks up the verm barrier and allows for contams to enter

I did it with a few of my jars on my first grow, I also spawned one to a vacuum seal bag in my garage, no flow hood or any sort of protection, 50% colonized before I discovered it needed to breathe... poked the holes and it contammed

Origin Poster Here:
I shook the syringe quite a bit before inoculation. I used 1cc per jar following the pf method.
I added enough water to make the substrate moist all the way through. Slightly mushy but not to the point of were water would just dump out if turned on it side. - hope I explained that well
No I did not have golden teachers, I was using the B+ strain if that makes a difference.
I did not shake the jar after inoculation. Prior to inoculation, once I added the substrate I took the jar and tapped the bottom on my hand, once again following the tek.
I really appreciate everyone input. If you have other questions to help me clarify what I did, It would be great!!
Thanks for the help. I have 3 other syringes and did not want to mess with them until I understand what the problem is and if there is a way to fix it.
THANKS AND I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO MORE GREAT INPUT!!!!

I was doing some more reading...
The substrate looked a bit like sludge. I used the fine vermiculite compared to the course vermiculite. Should it be the same mixture of water in both types?? If not.. how should it compare?? Has people had experience with both types and if so.. is one better or should i do anything different when working between the too??
*** And if it is sludge and my problem is the amount of water used, is there anything at all i can do ???
I truly appreciate your professional help. THANKS!!

looks like sludge, thats not good at all. your best bet when making up your mix is to add the correct ratio of water and then if it seems to dry (no cohesion, sand like) add just very small amounts until it does bind slightly. i have had very good luck with the fine verm using the 2:1:1 ratio, what may appear to be dry may actually not be. there really isn't much you can do to dry the jars out after the fact, they will retain the moisture pretty well. remove any tape or foil off the jars and let them breath freely (not sealed in anything), let the air get to them, this may help. when it comes to tapping the jars in your hand, i wouldn't. any unnecessary packing of the jars is going to slow colonization, if you pack it too much you may not get any. just lightly spoon the mix into the jars and let it be that, especially using the fine verm. if it were the large chunks of verm then a little might be ok but not with the fine. best of luck

The only tapping of the jar against your hand is done when you are trying to get the cake out.
