could u tell me what is the original purpuse of vermiulite?
i wanna know, because maybe i can buy it here, if i know where to search. so please tell me.

Vermiculite is used for starting seeds, or growing root cuttings. If you can't find it at some place like Home Depot, you can find it at a lawn and garden shop. In my area, Wal Mart, Home Depot, etc...no longer carry it, but the garden shops do.

They sell it at gardening stores. It is used as an additive to soil, for planting clones and small seedlings in it, making the soil hold more water and being more "flufy"

Is there different types of Vermiculite? I picked some up at a store here in town and it is about the size of small rocks. About the size of chopped up ham you see in the salad bar. Also is there one kind that is better than another???

Vermiculite is also used as 'ornamental ash' ... it burns down to create the look. If the gardening store doesn't have verm, be sure to ask around for this stuff.

Vermiculite is exploded mica. It is very light and has about the same color and texture as puffed wheat.
