Quick Birdseed Question

I knocked up my first couple jars of birdseed last night. I know what to do up to the point they are fully colonized. I know i should search, but I'm somewhat impaired. Can someone point me to an newbie tek for working with the birdseed after it's colonized?
I've been very successful with cakes, up to 3rd & 4th flushes with semi-healthy cakes. I've had minimal success with casing, one got green after the first flush, have another working on 2nd flush now - looking and smelling healthy.
Appreciate any advise or links.
