Did i prepare my fruiting chamber too soon?
    #4577739 - 08/25/05 04:18 AM (12 years, 2 months ago)

It's my first time doing this.

My jars have been in the incubator for 3 days now. I'm already seeing small areas of Mycillium (sorry for the spelling).

I needed something to do so i thought i'd start making the fruiting chamber. I have an airstone running into a big tuppaware container. There is perlite in it, sitting on an half an inch of water... did i get this all set up too soon? Will i just have to end up re-sterilizing the tuppaware and perlite in 20-30 days when my jars have colonized?? Right now the airstone is on.. exchanging air.. will this chamber stay clean enough??

Second of all, am i supposed to put airholes in the top of my fruiting chamber? I assumed so because of the need for air exchange.. but is 4 screwdriver holes enough? It's a big container.

First off u might want to bubble your air through some h202 to sterilise the air, cause that air comin in could have contams. Not sure its totally essential bu thats what i do. Get your temps and humidity right now before u fruit them babies. Holes in the top of your chamber aren't all that nesseasary if u have air comin in through ya air pump(unless your chamber is air tight). In that case make a fair sized hole and stuff it with polyfil or somethin. Hope that helps.
