Breathing thoughts.
    #4577078 - 08/25/05 12:48 AM (11 years, 3 months ago)

I have noticed that breath and thought interferes, but as I let go (consciously relax) the thought's texture seem to lighten and gradually parts from the breathing process. Breath's texture changes almost symmetrically, and as relaxation grows the two suddenly soar freely. Then I no longer think in sentences, only quick points... or something. Breathing almost stops.

Visualize what is really happening when breathing. We are not soaking in air, rather using stomach muscles (preferably continue upwards for full breath; some use only upper chest) to press the stomach outwards thus it drags the lungs downward, making more space available. The vacuum created is instantly filled with air. So we never breath in air, we just widen our inner space and air breathes us.

How is the thought process connected to the breath?

i don't think it is. atleast not conciously unless you decide to control your breathing.

there are forms of meditation that deal with breathing...and i think some...deal with stopping the breath for long periods of time...i've even read that it can be dangerous to try those types of meditation if you're not a pro. also...there are meditations where you breathe in one nostrol and out another.

Maybe I was unclear, but I never tried to stop the breath. Only let it flow by itself. Something has happened to it, like it's been set on manual drive almost constantly. It just slows down so incredibly if I try to let it run it's own course, and then this seperation occurs.

Maybe my mind has gotten entangled in my breath (ummm, vice versa) by accident. Hmmm.

Hmmm, no. I will still be aware of it. Even to a greater degree when seperation occurs, it has something to do with texture, or the weight of the thoughts AND the breath. Both lightens up. Maybe it is impossible to understand if your thoughts aren't entangled in your breath? Or maybe it doesn't make sense at all. Sorry I can't explain it better. :frown:

Each of your hundred-billion brain cells, uses oxygen to stoke the fires of consciousness. Your brain's need for oxygen is more than ten times greater than the rest of your body.

The link between breath and thought is both spiritual and physical. When we describe an experience as "inspiring" we are recognizing the spiritual oxygen we have breathed in. When we breathe, we send physical oxygen to our brain, fueling our thoughts.
