60/40 update
    #4571788 - 08/23/05 05:31 PM (18 years, 7 months ago)

there are now scattered pins on my casing, enough to hint at a good pinset with all the good knotting of mycellium all over the case. but two shrooms have arrived early and just started bolting. i don't know why. i patched for a nice even pinset, is there anything i can do at this stage to promote some more even pinning? thanks guys!!!

oh and if you didn't read my older post it was 4 BRF cakes cased in verm and coir. incubated at 82* for about a week, now in 71* temps with constant 97% rH from the FC. hope that's enough info. it's been in the terrarium for almost 2 weeks now. that should do it

well, that casing looks very overlayed, this will effect your flush and your pinset. At this point, I would let it do it's thing for the first flush, then do a deep scratch and see if that helps.

Looks like you waited to fruit a little too long. You want to fruit it once the first signs of mycelium hit the surface, not when the surface is colonized.

I hear that rh for casings crap all the time. Well I'm sure it's true but I can tell ya this. Since leaving the humidity over 95% all the time pinning has doubled.

All of em just 1 quart each Haw SA OI Mal

yeah, I agree with magash. I always keep my rh at close to 100 no matter if it is a casing or not and have always had really good results. I know that 75%-80%rh is optimal, but I don't know, I never had bad results at 100%rh.

The most important thing IMO is fresh air exchange...I think that has a bigger impact on pinset than anything.

I normally have my terrarium at 80-83F with 90+RH and have always had good results.

alright then, i picked those two monssters. otherwise the casing looks better than i though. keeping the rH up. temp is around 70 is that too low? i can always toss my heater in there and kick it up to any specific temp. thing is my cakes are still in there. thanks guys!!!
