Cooking Soil Mix Before?

this is similar to another thread i had earlier but this question wasnt answered for me.. and ive read conflicting ideas on this.. do you think i should cook the soil to kill bacteria before planting my cacti seeds.. and if so.. how long after should i wait before planting.. i dont wanna burn my lil seedlings.. thanks guys

yes, you should sterilize your substrate!
when it gets fully cool you're ready to sow...

k thanks.. hmm im guessin i should prolly get that done tomorrow since the seeds should be here any day now.. would sticking it in the pots and microwaving it work>? or what other method should i use?

microwave works.
nuking it at max for about 10 minutes hould be plenty.
but make sure the soil id good and moist or ull end up melting the container.

ive grown cacti without sterilising but using 'superol' to prevent fungus and it worked good too...

Yeah, when I'm planting cactus seeds I microwave my soil after getting it nice and wet. Seems to prevent any green growth in the containers.

put the cactus soil in a pot
wet the soil till it is damp
cover the pot in saran wrap
microwave for 1-2 minutes depending on microwave strenght and altitude.
allow soil to cool approixately 10-20 minutes
sow seeds and then recover the pot with the saran wrap
put in medium light with less that ~80 degrees if possible.
