Im thinking about adding straw to my rye bags for nutrition. My question is am I supposed to boil the shredded straw before hand? Has anyone had problems with the straw poking holes in there bags?

You are asking for trouble by doing this No it will not poke holes in the bags but sterilizing straw will open you up to tons of contams.
Starw needs to be pasturized only and so I reccomend that you run rye grain spawn and then mix w/ pasturized wheat straw.

Besides to what dimitri wrote:

"adding straw to my rye bags for nutrition"

rye is much more nutritious than straw. You normally add a small amount of colonized rye to the pasteurized straw.

The reason I asked was cause I just saw a disscusion going on and they seemed to think straw had more nutrition then rye, and that rye had more tryptamines. Will I will know soon cause the rye bags are kickin. Yeah I couldnt imagine strw haveing more nutrition then rye but then I never thought mushies were so easy
