is dmt very setting-dependent?
    #4574774 - 08/24/05 12:37 PM (18 years, 7 months ago)

to have a good trip? I hate tripping on shrooms indoors (i'm definitely a nature man). However, I was wondering if DMT really depends on setting, or if anywhere is ok considering you get so fucked up.. it might not even make a difference. I have a choice between a house i dont especially care for, or outside in the green hills with clouds (but also the possibility of being seen by people around).
What do you think?

I've never smoked it outside, but could see it happening in some places. I just prefer to smoke it laying in bed with a good Grateful Dead show playing. You pretty much just want to be undisturbed for a half hour to hour.

As with all psychedelic drugs, it is essential to be prepared with comfortable set and setting. Setting is definitely important.

once the dmt has been smoked set and setting have very little to do with the experience. however, dmt is extremely breath taking and shattering. being in a beautiful place such as a beach at sunrise. or the top of a mountain helps with the transition between worlds. you are taken for a journey and it is alot easer to come back and appreciate what just happened when you are surrounded buy gods creations. it is also easier to leave. this has been my experience. also i find it helpful to be on another hallucinogen such as LSD or mushrooms. it helps a great deal with the transition, it makes it allot gentler and less shattering. post peak has been the best for me.

I find it less set/setting dependant than anything else really. Don't do it in the middle of a dark alley, but as long as you aren't nervous about your surroundings, it should be fine. If you do it right, you won't be connected to your environment anyway. The comedown might be easier to deal with in a familliar, nice place though.
