I should be getting some Good Karma from this.
    #4571898 - 08/23/05 07:59 PM (11 years, 4 months ago)

Well, I had a day off today, so I thought I would ask my old neighbor if he needed any help with his property.  He's always doing something with it, but he's getting pretty old, and I really don't want him hurting himself.

So, I thought I'd just see if he would like any help.  He said he would need some help laying down some 4 X 4's to border his property.  I said I'd be more than glad to help.  He went off to get some, and I just wandered til he came back.

But, I was shocked when he returned.  He didn't have 4 X 4's, he had railroad ties.  Those pieces of wood that are between the railroad rails.  But, these weren't the 4 foot ones.  They were the big 8 footers, which weight about 250lbs.  He had 25 of them on his trailer. I asked if he needed any help, so I stuck with it.

It was such agony throwing those around in 100 degree heat.  I thought I was going to puke several times.  But, I managed to get several off the trailer.  Then, I somehow had to make it about 300 feet to the edge of one side of his property.  I couldn't just pick one of these up.  I had to heave one end of it in the air, catch it, then stand it up, and let it fall over.  Pretty much just flipping it over and over, til I finally go to the end.  Damn tough...

I say, I had to have picked up each one of those 25 blocks of wood, about 30 times each.  Nearing the end of it, I was so damn exhausted.  I tried to heave one of the last ones into place, but I didn't know, one had a jagged piece of metal on the end.  So, I throw it in the air, I'm too tired to catch it correctly, and slams into my left knee...splitting it open.  Hurt like a bitch.  I just wrap my shirt around it, and finish the remaining 3 pieces.

My neighbor thanked me for my help, and I said it was no problem at all.  I mean, I did ask to help, but I had no idea it would be such slave labor.  Seriously, that had to be one of the most intense work outs I've ever had.  I can barely lift my arms, I superglued my knee together (superglue works wonders), and just relaxing on here, with a beer.

Atleast I feel good for helping someone out, instead of sitting on my fat ass.

I wish I knew. This guy is nearing 85 years old. So, he's kinda out of it most of the time.

I could clear all of this karma non sense up for ya both.

There's no such thing as karma.

Only karma there is would have to be treat people the way you would want to be treated.

I just said Karma cause I needed a title for this. I'm tired and my mind went blank. Oh well...not karma for me. I'll live.

Yea, I don't think he did have a plan for those pieces of wood. He just wanted to border a side of property with them. For whatever reason, I do not know.
