casing containers
    #4571834 - 08/23/05 05:44 PM (19 years, 4 months ago)

A few quick casing questions, bout to case some more PF jars tomorrow night and would like to know some info before I do it.

1. What size casing containers do you guys use for a normal run of PF jars with 50/50+ casing?

2. How much colonized substrate do you put into the bottom?

3. How many 1/2 pint jars do you use on 1 casing?

Thanks!

i can tell you what i did, but not if it's good or not since this is my first grow. i used about a 1' X 2' metal baking pan. crumbled up about 4PF cakes to form my myc layer, though im sure i could've used less, they weren't fully colonized you see. good luck

1. any size/shape will work, just need it deep enough for substrate and casing

2. depends on substrate, 2 inches is a rough estimate

3. depends on size and shape of container, a normal sized bread pan will take 3 x 1/2 pint jars, with plenty of room for casing.

Is it a bigger is better thing with the casing container? I'm cool with throwing the aluminum trays away after a casing, they are pretty cheap.

I bought a bunch of those, but have yet to use them. I was scared about them being clear.

edit: not clear, just not totally opaque
