this part is almost 100% true, it doesnt matter if you are willing to abide by the law, what matters is if the law is enforced, if it is, then it depends on if the judge will uphold the law, many people get off because the cop looked the other way or the judge gave a token sentance because of extenuating circumstances, in this case it didnt happen so one will have to budge because the other will not

Yes you could.
and that means I shouldnt be punished for it
Well when you're talking about murder you have to deal with the laws of nature as well. Whether or not we have laws or live in pure anarchy, if you kill someone it is highly likely that their friends or family would exact revenge upon you, but I think we can both agree that murder laws are much more sensible to live by than laws on drugs that are relatively harmless.
Since the legal system is humankind's own creation, we should try to make it as efficient, realistic, and sensible as possible. Filling our prisons with harmless recreational users is not efficient in my opinion.
If research on the medical benefits and low health risks of marijuana keeps coming like it is, hopefully the government will soon realize that the gig is up and we can evolve a little bit.

I didn't, I got my possession ticket taken away and my paraphanelia ticket reduced. I paid a lowered fine, spent a day and a half in jail (got to share a cell with my buddy and the guards loved us and gave us extra food because we were hungry from camping) and got the hell back to the safety of the wilderness and then a decriminalized state.

we may see them as harmless but there are many the equate drugs to murder, look at the people who's children have died of an overdose, many suppliers have been imprisoned for murder based on that logic alone. yes it's convoluted just as it is to believe that drugs are not a crime whe the current laws clearly state that they are

No one has od'd from weed. If people equate drug offenses with murder than their opinion is most likely influenced by misinformation/propaganda.

weed = drugs (to the majority of america and the legal system) and it's that propaganda that got most of these drugs outlawed in the first place
it doesnt matter what the truth is, what matters is what the law says unless you dont car about going to jail

Yes, and this is wrong. Totally blatant misinformation. You and I are not the only ones who realize this either.
If the current laws are based on information that is factually incorrect, this should be corrected in order to have a legal structure that can be taken seriously.
Crimes only exist in the mind of those who take the legal system seriously, which is most people because of the threat of punishment.
