Hey I was thinking about drying methods of shrooms, and then I thought about using a dessicant (sp) chamber along with a fan....

Could it be possible to do both at once effectively?
I was thinking just use the chamber and mount a fan above it..

sure, the point in using a fan is to decrease the amount of damprid (or whatever) ya use... basicaly, it's a tradeoff of work.... drying out the damp rid, or moving the shrooms.

not exactly an "IDEA!" tho...

Would this be effective?

I mean there would be no disadvantages to it would there as opposed to just using a fan or a dessicant chamber alone?

A dessicant chamber is supposed to be air tight so you are not drying all of the humid air in the room, just what you have in your container. Just use a dessicant container, or put them in front of a fan for a day first then pop them in.

Yep -- like darkfly said.

Also, you'll want the smallest airtight container you can get, in consideration of your harvest. More air in the chamber means more air for the dessicant to dry.

No wonder I go through so much damprid. First time I remember reading this tip. My drying chamber is WAY too big!

epsom salt.

buy some, very cheap
cook it for about hr on high in oven
put in container
let cool
put screen over epsom salt for shrooms to lay on
put mushrooms in screen
put lid on
look at in 2 days
100% dry

full cost? about $3

epsom salts can be used over and over again
Cost of drying shrooms for rest of your life?
about $3

no other methods needed, it works well, is cheap. and well, is the best way,
