Good Electronic Music?
    #4570883 - 08/23/05 01:04 PM (18 years, 7 months ago)

Can anyone recommend any good electronic music to me. Something besides trance. Not that I don't like trance, i just already have enough of it. I am just looking for something new.

Also Kraftwerk, Massive Attack, Biosphere, Air, some Aphex Twin, Takagi Masakatsu, some Lemon Jelly, some Terry Riley, and Turner, also Bj?rk has a lot of electronic music I like. I also love Stereolab, it's more like indie, but with lot of electronics. May the next poster continue... :smirk:

Use the search function.

This is like the 4th time I've answered an identical thread this week alone.

Younger Brother (one of the best)
Shpongle (one of the best)
Talamasca (pretty trancey for most songs)
Entheogenic
Abakus (one of the best)
Bluetech (one of the best)
Magic Sound Fabric
Orbital (sooooo sooo good)

and finally Plaid. Plaid's unlike all the others, but just as good in terms of musical quality and depth. More so really when compared to some of those i listed...

Just do a search for electronic music though and you'll get so many more it'll blow your mind.

I recommend these classic albums:

Kraftwerk - Computer World [old school bleepy music, the melodies are amazing]
Fluke - Risotto
Chemical Brothers - Come With Us
Massive Attack - Mezzanine
Underworld - Beaucoup Fish
Boards of Canada - Music Has the Right to Children

Ulver.do not download anything off of Kvellsanger or Nattens Madrigal, those were the early black metal days.Themes from William Blake's The Marriage of Heaven and Hell,Perdition City and new album Blood Inside are beautiful experimental albums of great ambient/electronic music

Bluetech - Prima Materia

its very chill and colorful electronic music, and it's not all cracked out like Squarepusher

Autechre has also done some of the most beautiful and organic electronic arrangements i've ever heard, but you have to sift through alot of their "ping-pongy blip-blop" stuff which im usually not in the mood for

The Crystal Method - Vegas

another album that has stuck with me, really powerfully driven beats but it has this cool haunting vibe to it as well

I also gotta recommend the Vegas album. I totally forgot about that one. I think i'm gonna dig that one out today and give it a listen. Crystal Method's newer stuff is kinda lame and pop-ish but their first album was really good and has a style that sounds like nothing else.

"Electronic" is a very broad category. Here are some recommendations:

Aphex Twin
Autechre
The Crystal Method
Future Sound of London
Tangerine Dream
Shpongle (excellent trip music)
The Orb (excellent trip music)
