Books that enhace your experience
    #4569394 - 08/23/05 04:49 AM (11 years, 3 months ago)

Hello! Glad to post at the Shroomery again!
Just had the idea of making an upgradable list of books you may read to enhace your mushroom experiences, feel free to list yours too! I?ll begin with one of my faborites:

"The Holographic universe", by Michael Talbott, amazing book to sense the hologram of reality, and upgrade your counsiousness to a higher level of understanding.

"The Kybalion", by Ermes Trismegisto, again amazingly simple sentences wich open the doors of your perceptions and upgrades you to higher levels.

"The 3rd eye" by Lobsang Rampa, lots of keys hidden in this story, take them and open what you want :-)

"The Bagavad Gita (as it is)" by Sri Srimad A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, a book to spontaneously open and find the lines you need to read at that moment. Expands your "Krsna counsciousness"!!

of course all you may find from Terence Mckenna, Tim leary, Albert Hoffmann, Stanislav Grof, and other great psyche-uncles..
Please feedback!
:-) Enjoy your world too, Hongo.

Click the link "BEST TRIPPING MANUAL" in my signature, download the PDF of the LSD handbook and print it out.

It's the best practical book on psychedelics, its an oldie but still reigns as one of the best tripping manuals ever written.

The Tao Te Ching, to me, sums up everything that tripping is about on every single page. I can't wait to read it on my next trip.

--------------------
Acid doesn't give you truths; it builds machines that push the envelope of perception. Whatever revelations came to me then have dissolved like skywriting. All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.

Many Lives, Many Masters

Brian L. Weiss M. D.

This deals with hypnosis therapy, past lives/reincarnation, the experience of death, channeling, and spiritual development on the astra plane.

No psychadellic drugs involved, but it relates VERY well to my recent shroom trips.

Also a VERY QUICK READ, perfect for tripping.

Have to allso vote for Bhagavad Gita (I would go for a "non-hare-krishna-translation" though) (no offence, I just get annoyed with the guys krishna-all-the-time-explanations

One that is really beautifull to read is :

http://www.sacred-texts.com/hin/gita/index.htm#arnoldgita

... but for a real trippy journey into .... yes, hmm into it ... read the ashtavakra-gita, its extremely cool once you get into the flow of it (its even cool without drugs, but they help ofcourse) :

"The tibetan book of the dead" !!! (the original) Its wonderfully tibetan, but also explains lots of things.

To Shnezbit: The books are meant to be readed before your experience, not meanwhile, because if you readed it it?s inside of you, you can then check the readed on the trip, but mentally :-) Thanks for your inputs!

What about "alice in wonderland" ?? My friends and i readed it toghether  the night before our experience, but not the whole book, we got to the tea scene, and we didnt read further. On the next day we ate the shrooms on empty somach, and lots of water, we were the whole trip in the tea scene , involved and totally connected between us, in a funny mental way, we were like the characters of the tea scene   . It was crazy, and different from tripping of what we are, and what we do, and our soul, etc, it was just fun to trip book scenes toghether!

Then i remember "Sphere", from Michael Crichton , a great book about our minds weaving reality. Dont watch the movie, it?s just hollywood crap, and they cutted the most significant and enlightening parts of the story.

It would be fun, if you guys would write some of your experiences related to the books, and the way you lived it, i would love reading about that :-)

See you again, hongo :mushroom2:

Be Here Now.

Great illustrations and writing as well. Even when I was completely twisted I could still read the writing, it seemed to shine through.
I think I had a Tim Leary tape on at the same time too. I ended up writing in the end of the Be Here Now: I taught myself the answer to my own dillema. It seemed to sum it all up!

I tried reading an Ethics book once coming up on LSD...that lasted about 20 seconds before I threw the book.

I don't read much while tripping, unless its something very short and simple. I seem to have a hard time focusing on petty things like English words among the depth of a psychedelic experience.

"Kunstformen aus dem Meer" from Ernst Haeckel,
a german book, the title in english: "Art forms from the ocean", its a graphical book about lifeformations from the ocean, which may enhace every little thought you may have on your trips.
Its very joyfull to see your mental images flowing with the ocean lifeforms, because they are so incredible! And this guy Ernst Haeckel drawed every single picture with his own hands, an amazing work to admire, that although the complexity of it all, he didn?t gave it up, and maded wonderfull illustrations of this lifeforms to enjoy. I defineatly recommend this book to any person who ever visited the other planes. Chek it on amazon or so, i found it on a library and took it for some days to see it, now i want to have it!
that?s my recomm for today!
:fairy: Hongo
If you see it let me know what you think!
I loved the Castaneda list from Equilibrium! I?ll read them as i go trough this holo-lifeform!
Thank you!
