Another Polyfill Question
    #4567415 - 08/22/05 05:48 PM (19 years, 4 months ago)

This is sort of a stupid question, but when you are supposed to shake your jars part of the way through colinization, should you remove the polyfill? Or should you pack it loose enough to allow for shaking? It's just that a lot of times these questions have a different answer than I expect.
Thanks.

your jars should only be filled 1/2 to 3/4 full so there is air space to accomodate shaking. Don't remove anything, just shake. The polyfill/tyvek acts as a filter to keep out contaminants, keep in moisture and allow for air exchange.
