So my Pressure cooker hates me...

I seriously dont know if I'm doing this right. I wait until steam comes starts to come out of the valve, then put the weight on. But then steam just leaks out from under the weight....
Is it not supposed to push the weight up and down? Or does the steam signify that its under pressure?
I cant call the company, as they are in Italy and dont speak english.

A little steam will escape. And the weight will move. Is it building pressure? Don't try to use it without a pressure gauge.

It didnt come w/ a pressure gauge. I'm pretty sure its set to a standard 15 psi. Theres no place for a pressure gauge to go.
And Priz, when I turn the heat down, nothing happens. It stops boiling, steam stops coming out everywhere....This isnt right, is it?

all you do is kick the heat on high and wait for the first hiss that comes from your pressure valve. once you hear the very first hiss turn the heat down from high to low. what you are doing is building pressure with the steam, then you are maintaing that pressure, not exceeding it. if you still have violent hissing, your heat is still up to high. you want a quiet hiss. solid and steady.

FYI proper use of a PC is a must knowing how to use it is imperative. Use high temp once you have a good head of steam blowing out time it 2-3 min. this for thou's who know how to PC properly purges dry air pockets out of your PC. Now place the weight on and here is where experience comes into play, I've found that you don't want to put it down to low right away, somewhere in between until you hear the first giggle then you'll want to adjust the heat so the weight giggles 3-4 times a minute any more and you'll not only not be maintaining the 15psi but you'll be letting out valuable steam to the point of possible running the unit dry. Less than 3-4 times is IME just fine as long as it still giggles at least a couple times a minute. IME it's much easier to find the 3-4 time a minute sweet spot than the 1-2 times a minute. This takes time to get right so don't worry if it giggles often at first you'll get it. GL

Heh. This is the problem. My weight does not jiggle. My weight just sits there, spewing out steam...

The weight seems to have these little wire things, like springs, that hold it onto the pipe. I wonder if these cause it not to jiggle...

most likely, using the pic I posted you can determine if it stays hot enough, simply turn it to half power and wait a bit, if it stops increase it a little, if not, decrease... use the water test for final determination
