introducing spores
    #4566094 - 08/22/05 11:44 AM (12 years, 2 months ago)

I was think about doing a spore print from a cube I get off a field very far away and introducing the spores to the field and/or cattle. Has anyone tried this? Does it work?

Well, since it is wild spores, it may work..

plenty of mushrooms drop plenty of spores. and considering you live in florida, i believe they said its been the highest spore count in forever since that fatty monsoon. every breath you take is loaded with spores of all sorts of mushrooms. of course you would have a better chance of introducing the spores to the field itself but, why dont u just make a jar of grain spawn, and spawn individual patties or something, you would have alot more lucky doing that or something of the like than just scraping spores off a piece of paper into the air... just seems like a waste that way.

the spore/allergen count is related to the hurricane damage. As for introducing......I could give you the answer to that by this time next year. I had many fields that consistantly yielded pounds and after 2 (ivan&dennis) hurricanes they are barely hanging on. Although the cope finds have boomed. I have found more copes in each trip out to the field than in the 14 years of hunting total. And the best lookin' at that. I have been taking wild prints from these for the past couple years. The idea is to make spore solutions by the 5 gallon buckets and then put it in the sprayers used for bug spray.I'll try to find a pic and post..........here.
