Be spiritual where?
    #4564328 - 08/21/05 10:30 PM (11 years, 9 months ago)

So If you were to live anywhere in the world, looking for a spiritual way of life. Where would you go to make it happen? And why?

Anywhere primitive and I mean, no electricity, no cars, or any other modern day convenience. I'm thinking somewhere deep in South America

Every so often, I think about just leaving it all behind. Selling everything I have to have enough money for food along the way to wherever I choose to go. Away from all this. This facade. It's not real. It's like deep inside my head I know I should do it but I am scared. I am too comfortable. Too used to this comfortable existence. But it does not last. It will end. It always does.

Oh sorry. To answer your question. I think I might want to go to Tibet and learn with them. I am drawn there. Or maybe out to the wilderness or mountains. To nature...........

It must be said that while many foreign countries are cool to visit living in them is much more inconveniant than the US. Japan is out. Too many people and cities. Mexico might be alright...until you ended up in a Mexican jail. In Tibet you'll be persecuted by the government. The Amazon if full of poisonous snakes and really big and really hungry fish. I lived in Hawaii for three years...Maui might be a really cool place.

No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

If only I could I would, but then at the same time I can try to be as spiritual as I can while I am doing what I am doing.

I find that taking trips in nature is a way for me to get back to some kind of primitive state of mind. I can imagine myself as one of the native Indians that once flourished around my hometown, just in complete awe at the beauty around me. Nature really gets to me, especially when I am tripping

You sound exactly like me. Every time I shroom it up, I go to my favorite state park about an hour away from where I live.......

Why be dependant on your surroundings? Be spiritual everywhere.

My life up to this point can be described as the relentless pursuit of amusement. I would want to travel to as many places and meet as many people as I possibly could.

Well I'm not a young man in my prime anymore and I have a family. I guess what I'm looking for is a place that's cheap and somewhat sane. Warm, and green, a liberal govt. that's stable. Spiritual in the sense that one can live in a natural setting with out too much distraction. Am I asking the impossible?

All this talk of shrooming, makes me think that it might be getting time for a trip into the woods. It's been a few months since I tripped last and as of late I have been getting back into my spiritual/philosophical headspace after a long bout with World of Warcrack.

You don't have to necessarily be dependant on your surroundings, but it definitelly helps when you are trying to lead some kind of uninterrupted, spiritual, meditative kind of existence. I wish I could travel as well..........

I suggest you look towards the flagstaff area. I plan on moving there in two years.

I live on the edge of high desert in Oregon. It's a great place. I'm talking about leaving the USA. I don't appreciate our politics and think it will get very weird before it gets better. So I'm just looking around. What's so hot (no pun intended) about flagstaff?

I dig the people. And if you're into being outside and doing activities that require physical effort, it is the place to be. The area is full of people who are excited to be alive and want to have a good time.
