No, why would you want to do that? You'll just get a top layer of uncolonized poo, bad idea.

no it is unnecessary to do so. just add your spawn to the poo and thoroughly mix it in. then let it colonize till 100% and case or not, that choice is yours.
the only thing i have seen applied to the top like that is some spawn saved from the mixing and then sprinkled across the top.

good good lol that's what i did
also i am wondering if i should put them in my room that is 80-85 or is that too warm since I've heard that h/poo will make heat if that's the case should i just leave them in my room that is 70-75 degrees?

leave them in the room that is 70-75, they will be much better off imo.
