Would You Rather.......
    #4563117 - 08/21/05 05:10 PM (11 years, 7 months ago)

1. Be a waiter at a restaurant.
2. Be a valet at a hotel.

I need a job and these two places are hiring. The restaurant is pretty laid back and you don't even have to wear a uniform. The hotel (Hilton) is a pretty classy place where you do have to wear a uniform and kiss a lot of ass probably. It's hard to say which one would make more money. I think the valet position would. Which one would you choose and why?

The valet position.

As said, I think you'd made more money than a waiter.

Valet.

Oh I forgot to mention the valet position is full time whereas the waiter position could be part time. I am leaning more towards a part time place so I can do medical research studies as well, so that would definitely make me more money than the valet job and it would be more flexible. But I am still unsure....

Do you live in a metro area? If so, the 2 jobs would probably pull around the same amount of money, but the valet job would probably be sweeter.

valet for a little while and save a bunch of money, then if you need time for studies just switch or check out another job.

No I didn't see her post. I have been doing these studies for over a year and a half, which is how I have been surviving. But I was not able to get into one lately so I will need a job now. That $3,500 one is probably over at PPD right? Thet won't let me do any studies with them that require ECG's, which is most all of them :frown:

yeah the food would be a nice incentive. Cash every night is nice. For this valet position, I would get $5/hr plus tips, which we keep for ourselves, not pooled. During the first interview I had, the guy said on a good night the average is around $160. Bad night is $65 or so.........

Food service, eh, I used to work for a caterer, a little different, more work and longer hours, it's "easy" work, you'll obviously be on your feat for most of the day carrying shit. You'll probably get tips, though it depends on where your working. I'd say go for that.

As for the valet, well this is kind of a "duh" question, but you know how to drive a stick right? Some people don't, but that's obviously a fairly necessary skill as a valet.

Oh, and yes rod, working food service (waiter at a restaurant/caterer) you do get free food, that's a bounus for sure, but you get sick of it .
