I used to work in a resteraunt. There are alot of assholes but there was alot of really cool people too. So it kind of balanced out.

Yeah, but it always seems to come in waves, for some reason. Like, the cool peeps would come for a night, then the choads would pile in the next. It's wierd like that.

A Quote from the prisonplanet article:
"This account says Thompson killed himself while sitting in a chair on his typewriter and yet the original account tells us that Thompson shot himself while talking to his wife on the phone in the kitchen. Why has the story changed andwhat is the significance of the word typed on the paper in light of the fact that Thompson said he would be 'suicided' before being able to release a major story on explosives bringing down the twin towers?"
Hunter's typewriter, is IN his kitchen. That's where the guy worked.

HST said 20 years ago that if he couldn't commit suicide he'd feel trapped.

Plus, you have to figure. Dude was really sick...Massive health problems after decades of living it up.
He had bad legs, a big fucking rod put in his spine a few years ago and so on....
I mean, shit....When I'm his age, if I'm all fucked up physically, why not go out your way, ya know?

When you think about the life we all know he lead... cocaine addiction that was unending... and his general quirkiness and allusions to commiting suicide in his work, or at least his letters to friends... it's not surprising that hunter had to go out that way... i am sure there were countless nights where Hunter sat up strung out and bombed on alcohol with a loaded gun saying "this is it, if anyone's gonna take Hunter S. Thompson out of this world, its going to be me." And I'm sure many of those nights he dismissed the thought or didnt have the rage or whatever possessed him in him to go through with it, and then one night, he realized it was finally the end... I dont say this because I personally know the man, but I do know addiction and the crazy things it does to one's self esteem and sense of self worth... It's better to burn out than to fade away...

Gonzo is also a form of journalism and one could say a representation of the real Gonzo's (Thompson's) philosophies.
If you're talking about Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas though, then Dr. Gonzo was the pseudonym for Oscar Zeta Acosta, who did die in the 70s.
