Interview? with UPS
    #4560414 - 08/20/05 07:25 PM (18 years, 7 months ago)

Does anyone here work for UPS? I applied and have an appointment on Tuesday. Is that the same as an interview?
Sorry for asking dumb questions. I just need to know whether or not to get excited.

ya that's what i do.... and let me tell you after working for UPS i will never said anything threw there again unless it has 5in of bubble wrap around it. the gig starts out at $9.50 and bumps up to $10 after 30days and you also get all the benefits after the 30days which is good. so if you think about it you are making way more than $10/hr. my hours are from 3:30am-8:30ish (your done when your trucks are loaded) so i have all day to do whatever i want and you don't work weekends which is good also. the only part i think is bad is that all the jobs are partime until you have been there for over a year. they also promote from within which is cool also.

Yeah, I need the part time, though. I am going to school so the 3:30 to 8:30 works well. I am 21 and applied for the package handler position. Awesome advice, friends. Thanks

hey if your 21 you could also be a driver... i know by me that if you are 21 and want to be a driver that they will teach you how right away(if they are short on them) but its hard work man. i wouldnt want to go to class after i get doen with work... but look into the driver thing. (avrg pay is $24/hr i think...)

Damn, thanks a lot. I will bring it up after the interview, or maybe during. Seriously appreciate the help.

they will ask you in the interview what you plan on doing. i said

"i would like to be able to move up to a management. Shift supervisor maybe" and i got the job. i am not 21 so i cant be a driver.

Do they offer driver shifts at the same time? Cause I still have to arrange around the classes.

i am not 100% but i know the drivers get there around 7:45am-8:00am and leave to dropoff then pickup. i think they are done round 4-5pm maybe. the drivers are full-time. and $22 isn't really allot, it starting pay at the other job i am taking classes for =) but thats a trade and hard work. but i have no problem with hard work. i in fact love it. i feel so good after i have worked all day and i can see what i have built or done. (but at UPS i just need to shower after casue thats just hot sweaty moving sutff work) if thatmakes any sense.

I know someone who works for UPS, part-time. The pay is decent and they'll pay for your college tuition. Whether or not you have a real desire to go to school, you should think about taking advantage of that.

not all ups locations have the "earn-to-learn" thing is the catch. i know mine doesnt have that but it pays more per hr then other ones around.

I work there. AWESOME job. Great Bennies... PART TIME and I have Health/Vision/Dental/Drug I've worked there 3 years and get 3 weeks paid vacation every year...plus personal days and all that shit.

Its pretty hard to get a driving position, at least here. Its a strong union company, amd those are pretty sought-after jobs so they have to go by seniority, and when you start out, you'll be at the bottom, naturally.

i've been trying to get a driver position for a year or so now....but yea. nice place to work. cool people. everyone at my location smokes, we go out drinking after work all the time.

you'll like it. but you'll always ship your shit USPS from then on.

I went in for an interview for package handler with four other guys and the lady said she would contact me in a week...here it is two weeks later, and I can't find a number to call them. That sucks, I was looking forward to the job, I need a job bad, I must have sucked at the interview.
