my girlfriend went skydiving in new zealand last month. they filmed it and put it on a dvd for her, she looked so freaked out just before they jumped but she said it was a blast.

Did that last summer for my 22 birthday. Have gone 4 times since then. A fucking blast man, I'm about to go on my first solo flight. Hope to go on to base jumping after this.

Yeah..the thought makes me cringe and get excited at the same time. Because I know it's safer than I give it credit. I'm sure the drive to the skydive place is far more dangerous than the skydive itself, yes?

I went skydiving in Interlaken, Switzerland. Really fucking amazing. We went up to 4500m (15.000ft) in a helicopter. Had a 45s freefall and then 8 minutes of gliding to the ground. My jumping buddy even let me steer the shute. You can make some kickass scary high g turns on a shute. And the view of the Alps was amazing.
You don't get that flying belly feeling like on rollercoaster. I think it's because you fall in a horizontal position. You do get extremely hard wind in your face

I don't think the height was really scary because it's so high up. I think bungee jumping would be scarier because that's a familiar height.

I also had the option of a video, but it cost extra, so I made my own with my digicam.

I'd think that rock climbing would be more dangerous.
The people I went with had a reserve parachute wich was packed very carefully over 8 hours or something and checked by a certified person. They can use the reserve for a couple of months and then they have to repack it again.
The reserve is also hooked up to an altimeter which opens it automatically under a certain height.

wtf are they flying in the air for a couple months or something?? how do you jump out of a plane with the reserve already deployed...

and i highly doubt it takes 8 hours.... that would be a whole day of work for 5 minutes of pleasure...

try caving, it's like rock climbing in total darkness (except for the lights you bring) on slippery muddy rocks with a floor that can bee 500 feet below you

so at say 1500 feet the reserve opens regardless of whether or not the main chute opens? it shouldnt take more than an hour to pack each chute unless the
thing didnt deploy and got tangled

You don't understand me. I didn't say the reserve was already deployed. It's a backup. If the reserve isn't used, which it almost never is, they can use it again and again. So they can use it for a long time and then they have to check it again.
