make sure that they are cracker dry. Put the shroom in a airtight container and put in a dresser drawer. I have had shrooms last about a year before all were eaten with no loss. I know that there are some people on this site that has had shrooms last 5 years. You might want to add a little desiccant to help keep the air in the container stay totally dry. Make sure that the desiccant does not come into contact with the dry shrooms.

my last huge grow stash lasted about a year before effects wore down. another couple months and they were done for. if i could do it over i'd be sure to seal off multiple bags in an airtight container with some rechargable desiccant.

Oh yea, as long as no moisture, or a lot of air is constantly barraging them, you should be in the clear. I've heard they can easily last a year.

...well, that was stated above. Ooops.

Bone dry, vacuum sealed in autoclave or freezer bags, the placed in an air tight jar (with a desiccant bag it it) & kept in a cool dry place ----> good for several years.

i dont know much, but i do know that if you dry them really well, powder them, put in a airtight container (pack it in so there is no air left).

and then store them in a freezer.... they will last for years, years and years.

i use coffee grinder to powder. 00-encapsulate, freeze in co2-flushed glass. years and years no noticeable potency loss.

Agar is right in my opinion
Vacuum seal bone dry, dark and cool location

Your enemies are oxygen and moisture, so powdering them is not the best idea unless you are going to encapsulate them right away... Powdering will expose more surface area to O2

Putting them in the freezer is not needed. What I have seen is people freeze dried mushrooms then take them out every so often to take a dose out of the bag... Every time they are brought out and bag opened, the cold mushrooms will 'attract' moisture (condensation) like the outside of a glass of ice water. Damp mushrooms will go bad... Mold.

Getting some safe desiccant is not a bad idea to store with your mushrooms if you can vacuum seal. Like the little bags in beef jerkey or other foods. Don't ever eat desiccant, make you sick.

All I did was dry mine (fan dry only at that), double zip-lock bag them, and then mason jar them.

I've eaten mushrooms 12-18 months old with this incredibly simple storage technique and they're as good as the day I plucked em'.

Right; I do encapsulate immediately. It's easier to encapsulate a whole bunch than to do piecemeal. While encapsulation all by itself helps preserve, compacting the powder and closing it off, my main rationale for powdering is to achieve uniform potency of a large amount, and to make dosing without a scale easy.

I'm quick with the tongs; the jar's never open more than a few seconds, and I keep it vertical to not let the heavier-than-air CO2 pour out.

You're right that freezing might not be necessary if other mummification conditions are right, but cold slows down any oxidative process that may be afoot. Insurance.

At the bottom of my jars is an inch of the unscented silica-type cat litter I use to complete the drying process. Could also use white rice. Bake these items before use to drive out residual moisture already absorbed.

I just found this thread ... I have had shrooms via Amsterdam trip, 4 months in my fridge, but not in an airtight bag.

Does that make any difference?

They *look* fine ... but I have no idea about the science of fungi and whatnot.  So if you guys can give the "go-ahead" I will take some this evening.

Thanks guys!

:-)
