I need some help please, I have 11 cakes growing and I have gotten many of them to sucessfully pin, but they don't get big. Is the humidity to low? Should I be misting? I fan them 2-3 times a day and give them plenty of light. I have them in an opaque bin, temp. is at 72 degress, and they've been sitting there for a week now. Some of the pins heads are turning black. Please Help!

keep it very humid in there so there is always condensation forming on all the walls. Usually with cakes its a good idea to mist cause they require a higher humidity than casings. Also what strain are you growing?

Black heads are signs of abhorts. Pick them before they rot. They are still okay to eat and have been reported to hold a very good potency:weight ratio.

but the ones with black dots are not even that big, they are still pins, should I still pick them anyways? Is that normal to have small abhorted pins?

4 chages need to be meet to start pinning. Lower temp, light, lower CO2 levels, and high humidity.
It sounds like you have meet the light and temp requiremnets, because you have pinning, so the only other two criteria are CO2/air exchange and humidity. You say you are fanning 2-3 times a day. This is good. Maby this is lowering your humidity (as stated above). You should ALWAYS see condensation on the walls of your chamber.
How much water did you put in your perlite?
Can you see condesation on the inside walls of the chamber?
NOTE: You can add water to the perlite if needed.

Before I started misting last night, the walls were only partially condensated. No droplets, but you could feel the condensation on the inside of the bin and it was only near the bottom.

I would add more water to your perlite. Just fill up a large cup and pour it down the sides of the container away from the cakes. I have condensation on all four sides to the top.
