is it safe to use hay from outdoors in a grow?

i want to use some of the hay i have outside for a grow...how do i sterilize it? should i pasteurize it, or maybe both? its been outside for a long time too. also, is it ok to have horse shit in the mix?

it's better to have horse poo in there, and make sure you pastuerize everything

Pris ive been sterilising my casing mixes {microwave} and its been doing fine, Its a lot easier than pasturizing in a baking bag in the oven Nothing has contammed yet Thanks for unbanning me again!

I dont disagree with sterilizing, but pastuerization helps learn patience, that and I think microwaves are evil, they're tools of the devil

Straw is good...soak it at near boiling...1 hour. Drain it for a day... Then use it...add shit..works wonders. Too bad zoodoo isn't around anymore...
I always found a bit of lime always worked for me...

How could they ban you? you've been here forever. as for the straw, fresh would probably be better. The composting that happes when a bale sits and rots isn't quite the same as a large managed compost pile. I'd take what looks good mix with poo and pasteurize.
