Fungus Lake
    #4558900 - 08/20/05 01:57 PM (11 years, 3 months ago)

Late last night, I arrived home from my first trip to the Boundary Waters (BWCAW) in northern Minnesota. It's rough coming back to civilization and reality and sitting in front of the computers brings me down even more. I was gone for almost 8 days, with 3-4 days of total isolation and solitude. My crowning achievement on the vacation was testing the fruits of my first grow and tripping really good after hiking my ass off to get to Fungus Lake. Couple weeks of work to grow, a couple days of work to get to Fungus Lake, all for a couple hours of pure pleasure and satisfaction.

Entry Point at Round Lake. Long portages and paddles to Missing Link, then Tuscarora, then Thelma. Hike/bushwhack south to find FUNGUS LAKE!!

Sounds like a great time!

Is that screenshot from Google Earth, the best program EVER?!

All I really know is that those few years saddled me with a faith in the redemptive potential of the imagination which, however flat, stale and unprofitable the world seems to me now, I cannot for the life of me shake.

"in times of widespread chaos and confusion, it has been the duty of more advanced human beings - artists, scientists, clowns, and philosophers - to create order. In such times as ours however, when there is too much order, too much m management, too much programming and control, it becomes the duty of superior men and women and women to fling their favorite monkey wrenches into the machinery. To relieve the repression of the human spirit, they must sow doubt and disruption"

"People do it every day, they talk to themselves ... they see themselves as they'd like to be, they don't have the courage you have, to just run with it."

i hiked the Superior Hiking Trail last year, but that was way to developed and civilized for my tastes. I needed to try tripping out without ANYONE around.
